NAUI VA Skillbridge Program

NAUI VA Skillbridge Program

Transition from service to a career in diving—certified training for active-duty and veterans

DoD SkillBridge & NAUI

Bridge the gap between military service and your next chapter

In June 2021, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense authorized NAUI to participate in the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program. SkillBridge lets service members gain civilian work experience through industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during their last 180 days of service at no cost to the employer.

All In Aquatic Adventures Inc is proud to support this initiative. We welcome active-duty service members and veterans to use their GI Bill® and SkillBridge eligibility to train as NAUI dive professionals at our facility in the Philippines, and to explore a new career path in diving.

Why this program

What the NAUI VA Skillbridge program offers

90–180 day internships

SkillBridge runs during your last 90–180 days of service. NAUI internships can be tailored to fit your timeline.

GI Bill® reimbursement

Use your Post 9/11 or Montgomery GI Bill® to cover certification and license fees. The program is optimized to use about one month of benefits per course.

Path to NAUI professional

Train from entry-level through to NAUI Dive Professional at a NAUI approved facility and earn globally recognized certifications.

Real work experience

Gain hands-on experience at a dive center: operations, sales, gear maintenance, and leading divers with potential to be hired after your internship.

Flexible levels

You can complete the full track to instructor or stop at Rescue Diver or Dive Master. Each certification is a separate module.

Cross-over certifications

Existing certifications from other agencies (e.g. PADI, SSI) can cross over to NAUI, so you may not start from zero.

How we support your SkillBridge journey

As a NAUI-affiliated dive center, we offer SkillBridge-eligible service members and veterans the opportunity to complete NAUI certifications and gain professional dive experience at our facility in Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental. You will train with certified NAUI instructors, learn dive center operations, and build the skills needed to work as a dive professional anywhere in the world, whether you stay with us, join a liveaboard, or set your own schedule as an instructor.

Payment options include GI Bill® (apply in advance at va.gov) or out-of-pocket. Equipment rental is typically included for your first two courses; after that, you may need your own gear. We can advise on options and any dive-shop discounts.

If you have prior or existing medical conditions, a medical professional’s recommendation may be required for certain situations; many situations can be accommodated. We encourage you to reach out to discuss your eligibility and timeline.

Common questions

NAUI SkillBridge in brief

  • Who can participate? Active-duty service members in their last 90–180 days of service and veterans. You can also be enrolled in school.
  • Housing allowance: You continue to receive BAH for your current duty station, not the SkillBridge location. GI Bill® BAH does not apply for this program (you use benefits for certification reimbursement, not as a full-time student).
  • After SkillBridge: You can continue using GI Bill® or pay out of pocket to finish additional certifications. The host location may offer you a job based on performance during the internship.
